On Saturday, 17 June 2017 the Annual Alms Giving organised by the Dharmaraja College Old Boys’ Union - UK Branch took place at the London Buddhist Vihara. In keeping with the Buddhist public service ethos of the Dharmaraja College, old Rajans from across the UK joined together with their families to offer alms food to the monks at the Vihara, as well as making generous financial donations to support the maintenance and activities of the Vihara. The London Buddhist Vihara has a special connection for students of Dharmaraja College as the head monk, Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala, was a teacher at the school for many years, who recollected the contributions of past students and teachers at the school in many fields across the world. The merits from the event were dedicated to the memory of past teachers and students of the college, as well as blessing all teachers, students and alumni currently involved in supporting the success of the school.
In closing the event, Manjuka Tennekoon, President of the Dharmaraja College Old Boys’ Union - UK Branch, thanked the Venerable Sangha for their blessings, as well as appreciating the support of OBU members and their families in organising this important event by preparing offerings and attending to continue the noble traditions of the school. He also thanked all Old Rajans for their continued support of the work of the Union.
